Plans & billing

Builders are always free — you pay for the people who use your published apps. Every new workspace starts with a 14-day Pro trial; no card is needed. Current prices and limits are on the pricing page, and your workspace's own usage under Billing in the workspace sidebar.

What is metered

SettingWhat it does
Published appsApps with a live published version. Drafts are always unlimited. Republishing never consumes a slot.
App usersPeople who signed in to any of your published apps in the last 30 days. Workspace owners, admins and builders never count. Dormant users free their seat after 30 days.
Public trafficAnonymous visits to public links (views and forms). Counted separately from app users — a public catalog with thousands of visitors still counts as zero users.
EmberDB rowsRows in your Emberblocks-hosted tables. Connected Airtable tables have their own synced-row allowance.
Workflow runsEvery time a workflow executes. Runs refused at the cap show up in run history as quota_exceeded.
AI creditsEmber requests, weighted by model tier — see below.
Documents & emailsPDF and CSV files generated by workflows, and emails sent by workflows.
File storageUploads, headshots, icons, generated documents and comment attachments.

How AI credits are counted

Each Ember request costs credits by the model tier it runs on: Fast = 1, Balanced = 2, Best = 10. Drafting a whole app from a prompt always runs on Best. Every panel shows the cost before you run it, and credits are only charged when a request reaches the model — a refused or failed request costs nothing.

When you reach a limit

  • Free and Starter: the action is paused with a clear message until the monthly allowance resets (1st of the month, UTC) or you upgrade. Nothing is deleted.
  • Pro and Business: the same, plus you can add blocks of extra app users, rows or storage from the billing page. Owners are emailed at 80% and 100% of any limit.
  • A new app user over the seat limit sees "This app has reached its user limit" — existing active users are never locked out.

Downgrades and cancellations

Nothing is deleted. If you end up with more published apps than the new plan allows, the newest apps beyond the limit become read-only for viewers (the oldest keep working) until you upgrade or unpublish. Data above the row or storage cap stays readable; you just can't add more until you are under the limit again. A cancelled subscription keeps its plan until the paid period ends.

Invoices and VAT

Checkout, invoices and VAT are handled by Dodo Payments, our merchant of record — open Invoices & payment method on the billing page to download invoices or change your card.
