Email templates

Email templates turn workflow emails from plain text into branded, mobile-ready messages: design the body once in a visual editor, drop in variables, and every send fills them with live record data.

Designing a template

  • The Templates tab's Email template kind opens a block editor — headings, text, images, buttons, dividers. A live preview alongside shows exactly what recipients will get, and Send test to my email delivers it to your own inbox (it counts toward the plan's monthly emails).
  • Type @ in the editor to insert a variable — a named slot like firstName filled at send time. Reuse the same name wherever the same value repeats.
  • Images are linked by URL — upload files first (or paste a public URL); never paste images into the document itself.

Sending it

In a workflow's Send email step, switch the body to Email template, pick the template, and give every variable a value formula — record fields, expressions, or earlier step outputs. Recipient, subject and an optional reply-to stay step-level formulas, and generated PDFs/CSVs can still ride along as attachments.

Ask Ember

The Ember drawer's Emailtab drafts a template from a sentence — "an order confirmation with the customer's name and a track-order button" — ready to review and fine-tune.

Every variable needs a value

A send fails rather than going out half-filled: publish is blocked while a template variable has no value in the step. Emails sent on the Free plan carry a small "Sent with Emberblocks" footer; paid plans remove it.
